Thurrock Council pay tribute to the citizens of Thurrock.
For the second consecutive year Reece Productions were approach by organiser Julieann Burkey to provide technical production for the Civic Awards. This year included audio, lighting, set and provision of video support for the event, plus a ramp access system for the stage at Blackshots Hall.
'Two of this years nominees were wheelchair users, and the 88cm high stage at Blackshots has no ramp access, so we had to come up with a safe and suitable system to facilitate these guests on to the stage. We decided to utilise our stock of Litestructure's AliDeck, with custom parts to form a 10m ramp running parallel to the front of the stage. We had a test build of the system the week before to ensure approval of both Thurrock Councils DDA implementation officer and the management of Blackshots Hall, which lead to us adding a flat rest area half way. On the night both users sped up and down the ramp without any problem at all, we even lit the structure from underneath with several colourblock units to integrate it with the stage set look. Tying in with the 'chromed' look of the ramp we used two curved truss lecterns and some 10" box truss to dress the projection surface, all lit with more colorblock units. Lighting also included a starcloth backdrop and Mac500's to create beam effects. Audio-wise we provided a stack aside of Kv2 ES series PA controlled with the Mackie TT24 digital desk, delivering more than enough sound for the awards with various acts and a DJ at the end of the night. We also supplied the rear projection surface and comfort monitors for the video team from KBV'
